Inner and Outer

We met
our shoulders touched
or passed close
no surprise
or excitement
just trouble
yours and mine
– this is how it is, trouble
and darkness
not evil darkness
darkness

Everyone else was light
love light
but aware of every damn event
inner and outer
not judgemental
aware

I ran off
excused myself with a lie
that no one believed
I didn't run from you
I think our two seconds were over
I ran because of the polarity
your energy
their energy
or was it the strangeness at being there
I don't know why I ran

I went away
down a lane
looking up at the Halls of Residence
on the hill, distant, left
I walked down, right
toward the sea
expecting a harbour, few cottages
