I sat and talked with you for hours –
watched the fat drop off
down
to skin and skeleton

Then, I lifted and cradled you –
light suffused us
from electron to aura

I knew I loved you

I'd just got distracted

I feel the curtains and wallpaper will get damp
but odd, cobwebbed windows need opening
clumps of grey air have hung for too long

Outside is sunny, autumn
with that moisture – summer's regret

Gypsies, I guess,
with ponies
in the woods
questions linger for decades
in the mist
smoking
smiling
the warmth of ice white
